At the request of Gunma Prefecture, Corporate Planning Office Manager [Masaya Teshigawara] took the stage at the Roots intern report meeting and expert talk session!
The Roots Internship is an initiative planned and run by Gunma Prefecture and the NPO Katariba, which targets "high school students in the prefecture with roots overseas" living in Japan, with the aim of teaching them "the basic things that are not often taught to them," such as life and work (career paths) in Japan, through internships at local companies.
This is the second time our company has accepted a patient," I had a work experience at.
At the presentation session, the students spoke in a very positive manner, saying things like "they treated me like family," "I was able to gain a broader perspective," and "I was given great hints on how to think and how to proceed" through their internship with our company. It was a time that made us feel once again that it was good that they did it.
During the presentation, I spoke alongside Associate Professor Nishidate of Kyoai Maebashi International University, Principal Tanaka of Tamamura High School, Principal Suda of Ota Flex High School, and Representative Hoshino of Farm Hoshinowaka Limited Liability Company.
The talk session focused on the usefulness of the Roots internship and future multicultural co-creation from each individual perspective, and was so lively that the audience leaned forward intently to listen.
Our company has been working with overseas members for about 20 years, so we may be able to give some hints to companies that are just starting to accept foreign workers. Please feel free to contact us if you need any help.
