What are SDGs?

What are SDGs?
SDGs stands for "Sustainable Development Goals" and are international goals adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 and to be achieved by 2030.

Under the vow of "leave no one behind," the action is planned with humans, the planet, and prosperity in mind. It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets, including "poverty," "health and welfare," "education," "motivation," and "climate."

The SDGs are universal, not only in developing countries but also in developed countries themselves, and are being actively pursued in Japan.

Priority initiatives for SDGs

Priority initiatives for SDGs
Since our founding in 1973, we have been in business in Tomioka-shi with the motto of "being your partner to help you survive the modern age." [Energy conservation] and [Diversity management]: with these key words in mind, our staff works together to operate our manufacturing and nursing care businesses.

In the 2000s, the company experienced a large drop in orders, and with the motto of "cut the power, not people," the company worked on "meticulous demand management" and "maintenance and management of air quality through air conditioning and ventilation." These efforts were highly evaluated, and in 2015, the company, despite being a small to medium-sized company, was awarded the [Energy Conservation Grand Prize].

At first glance, our businesses of "manufacturing" and "caregiving" seem unrelated, but by developing caregiving services based on our know-how regarding work efficiency in manufacturing, we are able to provide our users with more comprehensive support for independence and create an environment where it is easy for staff to work.

We provide our users with a place to live a healthy life and support their independence.

We will actively work for the participation of women and foreign human resources.

We will work towards carbon neutrality by reducing and stabilizing electricity usage.

We will continue to forge ahead with our vision of "a partner to chart the modern age."

■Graph showing reduction in demand value at EIKOH SEISAKUSYO
  1. Electricity visualization
By utilizing smart meters and smart clocks, we were able to visualize electricity consumption. This enabled us to reduce the difference between the maximum and minimum demand values, leading to a reduction in the contracted electricity (peak demand value) while achieving maximum efficiency in production.

  2. Establishing an energy management system
We have created and appointed a new position called "Eco Leader," and the Eco Leaders are taking the lead in hosting a power management meeting every evening, bringing together on-site leaders.
We adjusted the operation of machines that consume a lot of power so that they would not overlap, and created an environment in which we could create an optimal production schedule. Furthermore, we held regular energy-saving study sessions for staff to standardize the knowledge level of everyone. By sharing information and increasing knowledge, we built a system of cooperation throughout the company.
Result:Production volume from 2010 to 2023 (14 years) increased x3, and our energy usage reduced by 45%!

Solving local community issues
■Received an award from the Vietnamese Embassy
  1. Diversity management
Empowering women has been a part of our company's character since the company was founded. 70% of our employees are women, and many female employees are appointed to positions of responsibility. We also began accepting technical intern trainees in 2005, and have continued to do so to this day.
The school has produced over 30 graduates and has been supporting the success of foreign talent for many years.

  2. Caregiving Business
Since 2003, we have been operating three facilities with four functions - the group home "Nijinoie," the small-scale multifunctional home "Taiyounoie," and the residential-type paid nursing home/day service "Sugao" - to provide support to the local community.
We provide a comfortable space that will make you feel at home.

PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS

Future outlook and the ideal partner

We are able to "run alongside" small and medium-sized enterprises that are interested in energy conservation and diversity management but are unsure of how to put these into practice.
Additionally, in our manufacturing and nursing care businesses, we are always looking for partner companies that can work toward our goals with the same enthusiasm.
